Bible Questions and Spiritual Discussion

Reading of Jan 27, 2012
I have a question, when I was listening to Brian read over Exodus 4:24-26 (NIV)

It says: "At a lodging place on the way [to Egypt to meet Pharaoh], the Lord met Moses and was about to kill him. But Zipporah took a flint knife, cut off her son's foreskin and touched Moses' feet with it. 'Surely you are a bridegroom of blood to me," she said. So the Lord let him alone. (At that time she said "bridegroom of blood,' referring to circumcision.)"

I mean I know that the Lord had good plans for Moses, but I don't quite understand why when they were resting, the Lord wanted to kill Moses. I mean I think it is great that his wife saved Moses by reminding the Lord that he was circumcised. I mean I know the Lord let Moses to live and continue on the path that He had planned for him. But, what are all your thoughts about this?
And is the son's "foreskin" is that like a cloth that was on the child? I mean no matter what I think Zipporah was really brave and really loved Moses by the way she acted, but what are y'alls thoughts about this? I mean I know the Lord let him live and lead his people into the Land, and God rescued the Israelites from the hands of the Egyptians, but what do y'all think about this?

Okay,
I also just looked at the Amplified version just to see what it said, and it clears up alot, actually! Hahah! I mean, if y'all still want to answer this it is fine. But, I think I understand why now! I am so glad there are other versions of the Bible, each one always brings something different to the table! Anyways, I hope you all have a magnificent day!
