Craig, I have often asked the same question to myself. It seems to me that we are not talking to the same TRW from one post to another. I question if we are dealing with one person or several.

Many say they believe that Jesus Christ is God, yet they also believe that God required Jesus Christ be punished in their stead for their sins. This obviously would makes the punisher and the punishee the same.

The shackles of the law precludes the revelation of the Christ debasing Him to a mere blood sacrifice. Proving Paul’s words

Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. (1 Corinthians 12:3KJV)

1 Corinthians 12:3 doesn't exist in a vacuum.

Galatians 3:13 says, "Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us--for it is written, 'CURSED IS EVERYONE WHO HANGS ON A TREE'"

Hebrews 10:4-10 says:
"For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. Therefore, when He comes into the world, He says, 'SACRIFICE AND OFFERING YOU HAVE NOT DESIRED, BUT A BODY YOU HAVE PREPARED FOR ME; IN WHOLE BURNT OFFERINGS AND sacrifices FOR SIN YOU HAVE TAKEN NO PLEASURE. THEN I SAID, "BEHOLD, I HAVE COME(IN THE SCROLL OF THE BOOK IT IS WRITTEN OF ME) TO DO YOUR WILL, O GOD."' After saying above, 'SACRIFICES AND OFFERINGS AND WHOLE BURNT OFFERINGS AND sacrifices FOR SIN YOU HAVE NOT DESIRED, NOR HAVE YOU TAKEN PLEASURE in them' (which are offered according to the Law), then He said, 'BEHOLD, I HAVE COME TO DO YOUR WILL.' He takes away the first in order to establish the second. By this will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all."

Regarding Jesus being called accursed, Galatians 3:1,2 says, "You foolish Galatians, who has bewitched you, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified? This is the only thing I want to find out from you: did you receive the Spirit by the works of the Law, or by hearing with faith?"

I take this to mean we are justified by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross, Who died in the place of our sins and rose again conquering the grave. It is not dependent on any of our works, including the works some would suggest of retraining our minds to not believe in good or evil, or of trying to create our own reality through our thoughts.

Only on Daily Audio Bible can we go from discussing inter - denominational worship to talking about Jesus' divinity.

It's all about Jesus anyway, right? We just have to make sure it's the right, authentic Jesus (WHO IS GOD!)

I tried reading that blog post that was linked above, but it didn't seem to talk about the same subject, it was about the tree of the knowledge of good and evil... was that the right link?

Ted I wonder if you realize that Paul is explaining the teaching of Jesus Christ to the early converts. In some cases what he is saying is a paraphrase of the Lord’s exact words. There is no way that you can leap frog from the old testament to Paul’s letters and understand what he his saying. You are doing exactly what you were commanded not to;

And he spake also a parable unto them; No man putteth a piece of a new garment upon an old; if otherwise, then both the new maketh a rent, and the piece that was taken out of the new agreeth not with the old. And no man putteth new wine into old bottles; else the new wine will burst the bottles, and be spilled, and the bottles shall perish. But new wine must be put into new bottles; and both are preserved. No man also having drunk old wine straightway desireth new: for he saith, The old is better. (Luke 5:36-39KJV)

You are putting new wine into old bottles. You are interpreting Paul’s letters with an old covenant understanding.

I'm not leap-frogging from the Old Tesatment.

Paul says in 1 Corinthians 15:1-5:

"Now I make known to you, brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve."

"Don't mistunderstand why I have come. I did not come to abolish the law of Moses or the writings of the prophets. No, I came to accomplish their purpose. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not even the smallest detail of God's law will disappear until its purpose is achieved."(Matthew 5:17 - 18)

and thanks, TR word, for hijacking my thread with your nonsense.

Ted

By leap-frogging the teaching of Jesus Christ you are misinterpreting Paul’s writings.

Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel. (Mark 1:14-15KJV)

Jesus commanded :
1) That we repent.
2) That we believe the gospel.
Without His teaching repentance is interpreted as feeling sorry for our sins and the gospel is the doctrine of salvation through the cross.

Repentance is our doing away with the old understanding and making way for the new. This is what baptism represents. And Jesus taught the gospel of the kingdom of God.

Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. (John 3:3KJV)

YES JESUS DIED FOR OUR SINS;
but without His teaching we have the wrong understanding of this, and like Nicodemus we unable to grasp the concept of being born again, and therefore we remain separated for our Father and outside the kingdom.

Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. (1 Corinthians 12:3KJV)
