Bible Questions and Spiritual Discussion

Which gospel?
Hi everyone!
I'm a new christian and I want to choose 1 of the gospels to study hardcore for the next little while. Reading it over and over so I get to know it very well and can quote from it, meditate on it, etc. If you were me, which one would you choose and why?

Thanks,
Wes

The Book of John is a great place to start. I recommend it to those I lead to Christ.

Agreed. John is my favorite.

Luke is my favorite.
John is fine, but it is quite different than the first three Gospels
in its narrative and its theological agenda.
Luke is more like Matthew and Mark,
reads more like a biography,
is easier to understand,
is addressed to a Gentile audience (like us!),
and is extremely practical in its application to social concerns
and its inclusiveness of the poor, women, and Gentiles.

I like John better, but for a new Christian, I think Luke, simply because of the depth of John. If you started with John now, you could read it again in 10 years, and still have God tell you something new. You would get a lot out of either. However, there is an older DVD I have that is the book of John, and it is fantastic. Which one do you think God is calling you to read?

The gospel according to St. Matthew is the first and the best for a beginner.
“The Sermon on the Mount” chapters 5-7 is the basis of the Lord’s teaching. Here Jesus explains in depth the difference between “the law “ and “the kingdom of God:” And the seeker is introduced to His method of using parables to illustrate the full meaning of His teaching.

I would go with John. It does a great job of explaining what Christ has done in simple and plain but very complete language.
