I’m always very interested to see how Christians handle the the topic of evil.

No surprise here.

The blogger made no mention of “the tree of the knowledge of good and evil,” instead he felt that “The Wind and the trees” by Gilbert Chesterton was more appropriate.

And as expected he concluded:

How differently would the church pray if we really believed we are at war with the kingdom of darkness?

I’m always amazed at the extent to which Christians are not followers of Jesus Christ.

He commanded “That ye resist not evil” Matt 5:39 but most of us just don’t believe His word.

Would you characterize Christ's posture during the conversation in Matt/Luke 4 as resistance? Was his conversation partner evil?

Ray you can rest assured that Jesus never contradicted Himself, and It’s important that you always keep in mind that He is our teacher.
He was tempted the same way we are. Luke 4:1-13 Jesus is teaching us how to deal with temptation. Notice that each time He was tempted He used the word of God to dispel that temptation.

Luke 4:4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

Luke 4:8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

Luke 4:12 And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

Whether it be the serpent in the garden, or the devil (Luke 4:2) or satan (Luke 4:8) remember these figures represent temptation and not an evil entity that has any power whatsoever over us.

A kingdom can have but one sovereign ruler, so as long as you believe in a power other than God you cannot enter the kingdom of God.

Rev. 19:6 And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.
